Chapter 1:arjuna-viṣāda-yogaḥ (Arjuna’s Grief)

Verse 1.6(sloka 6):

yudhāmanyuśca vikrāntaḥ 

uttamaujāśca vīryavān

saubhadro draupadeyāśca 

sarva eva mahārathāḥ

Meaning:

The formidable Yudhamanyu, the strong Uttamauja, Subhadra's son, and the sons of Draupadi, all excel in chariot warfare as skilled warriors.

Verse 1.7(sloka 7):

asmākaṁ tu viśiṣṭā ye 

tānnibodha dvijottama

nāyakā mama sainyasya 

sañjñārthaṁ tānbravīmi te

Meaning:

O best of the Brahmanas, I shall now inform you about the leaders who are prominent and fit to command my army.

Verse 1.8(sloka 8):

bhavānbhīṣmaśca karṇaśca 

kṛpaśca samitiñjayaḥ

aśvatthāmā vikarṇaśca 

saumadattistathaiva ca

Meaning :

There are individuals like yourself, Bhishma, Karna, Kripa, Ashvatthama, Vikarna, and Bhurishrava (the son of Somadatta), who are consistently triumphant in warfare.

Verse 1.9(sloka 9):

Anye ca bahavaḥ śūrāḥ 

Madarthe tyaktajīvitāḥ

Nānāśastrapraharaṇāḥ 

Sarve yuddhaviśāradāḥ

Meaning:

Apart from our commanders, there are numerous brave warriors devoted to sacrificing their lives for me. They are skilled in wielding weapons and adept in the art of warfare.

Verse 1.10( Sloka 10):

aparyāptaṁ tadasmākam 

balaṁ bhīṣmābhirakṣitam

paryāptam tvidameteṣām 

balaṁ bhīmābhirakṣitam

Meaning: 

Our strength is immeasurable, and Grandfather Bhishma ensures our perfect protection. In contrast, the Pandavas' strength, safeguarded by Bhima, is limited.
